Imagine you decide you want to build a new house. So the first thing you do is heat to your local lumber yard, purchase some lumber, a hammer and some nails, and start hammering boards together in the lumber yard parking lot.
It’s absurd to think that anyone would take that approach to home construction.
But sometimes we take a similar to our marketing efforts. We grab some tools and start to hammer out tactics without a sense of what our goals should be. We fire off random tweets or Facebook posts with little forethought. We think we know what marketing success looks like. How hard could it be?
Whether you’re building a house or building a marketing strategy, you need a blueprint.
Your marketing plan is your blueprint. Without a marketing plan, you’re building a marketing house of cards.
