Today (Saturday, June 15, 2024) is National Flash Fiction Day (NFFD) in Great Britain. But why relegate the celebration of great short short stories to that blessed plot alone? The web is worldwide, after all, and thanks to the internet, we can all take part.
So let’s take this party global. Happy (Inter)National Flash Fiction Day, everyone!
The NFFD organizers have a great day in store for us. Indeed, the good times started rolling before this post went live. The party began at 12:01 a.m. British Standard Time (about seven hours ago from where I sit) with regular postings of flash stories on the NFFD’s curated online journal, FlashFlood. According to the NFFD announcement, FlashFlood “will be publishing one flash every 5 to 10 minutes over at NFFD. Check in at half past the hour every hour from start to finish for our Debut Flash Series — new stories written by previously unpublished flash writers.”
The NFFD organizers are also coordinating a write-in, in-person activities in Birmingham, and lots of other cool stuff today.
