Twitter nearing 1 million users

In January, the Twitter Facts blog predicted Twitter would have 1 million users by April 1, 2008. But it looks like Twitter’s growth was underestimated. Twitter Facts now revises the estimate to 1 million users by March 1. Follow the solid line.

  1. My question is how many of those million are active users, and how many have started, and abandoned Twitter accounts. That’s the problem we saw with Second Life. Everyone was wound up about their growth in members, but few looked at just how many were logging on every day. I don’t think Twitter is going to take a dive like Second Life has, but I still think active users is a more reliable metric.
