Fake U on SecondLife

While real bricks-and-mortar universities are experimenting with creating virtual campuses in Second Life, some fans of the online RPG are creating a make-believe cyber-university all their own, complete with coffee shops, pizza joints, a sports center, a library and classrooms. The Chronicle’s Wired Campus blog reports that Kindly State University set up earlier this month on Second Life. “Tuition is 200 Linden dollars (virtual money), and admission comes with a virtual laptop. Financial aid is available to qualified candidates.”

A formula for successful online video

At last, someone (TubeMogul) has come up with a formula for success in online video marketing. And it looks like this:

.5C + .15M + .20T + .15P = Success.

Mashable breaks down what it means:

50% C = Content and Production. You need substance.

15% M = Metadata. If you don’t fill out as many relevant tags as you can, you’re shooting yourself in the foot.

20% T = Thumbnail. It’s your free advertisement to the world. If you can pick your thumbnail, pick a good one.

15% P = Promotion. If you have a Facebook network, a bunch of twitter friends, and a blog to post on, you should do it. The video won’t discover itself.

So there you have it.
