My friends, will we miss these presidential campaign phrases?

Monday’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch carried a whimsical piece about eight campaign phrases that may disappear from America’s lexicon for at least four more years. They are:

Joe the Plumber

Change

Country first

Redistribute

My Friends (McCain)/Ladies and Gentlemen (Biden)

Maverick

Yes We Can

Hockey mom

The writer omitted one phrase that I hope to never hear again in a campaign:

Measuring the drapes.

Tales from redesignland: 50 great makeovers

Apologies for ripping off Tales from Redesignland for the title to this post, but it seemed perfect for this entry. A co-worker pointed me to this post of 50 great examples of successful redesigns, and I thought it was worth sharing. The before-and-after examples aren’t limited to mere websites or marketing materials. They cover everything from logos to websites to packaging to products — even cartoon characters. I applaud the folks at Function Web Design & Development for taking the time to pull together these great examples of redesigns done well. Here are a few of my favorites from the list:

No. 7 – the Discovery Channel

No. 23 – BusinessWeek

No. 35 – the Simpsons

What are your faves?
