Yes, professor, we know that Facebook is passe (via Wired Campus). Missouri S&T students were telling me that the minute Zuckerberg opened it up to the barbarians at the gates and started slingin’ all those apps at them.
But as the hordes leave Facebook, the question is:
What will take its place?
Will 2008 be the year of Twitter? Could the twits usher in an era of world peace via microblogging? (Yes, Judy, I know you’re not buying any of it.)
Or maybe it’s time for the backlash — the revenge of the anti-social network. Anyone signed up for Hatebook yet?

Besides Facebook does the best thing that Twitter does in a better fashion! You can tell your facebook friends your status and even subscribe to the RSS feed of that if you want. Why do I need to do this through multiple services when Facebook does this along with about a million other things? Twitter is the one’s thats the passing fad.
Kyle – Good points. Facebook has a lot going for it. But there’s this sense among Facebook veterans (read: college students) that the site has lost its cachet. Granted, until something better comes along, they’ll stay with Facebook. But that doesn’t mean they have to like it.
Also, to your point about Twitter. I don’t think it’s a passing fad, but neither do I think it’s in competition with Facebook. The two aren’t anything alike.
I definitely find myself using Facebook less and less as I get further away from my college graduation. I’d say in a year or so I’ll possibly be done with it. Good post, thanks for sharing!
I was not aware of Facebook becoming a thing of the past. Last I knew, it was becoming more popular. I personally do not use it very often. But I have heard it is becoming more popular than MySpace. I add blogs to my facebook page as well submit to as many places I can. I was being penalized for duplicate content, until I started using an article submission software called Artemis Pro. this allows you to take one article and submit several altered versions of the same article without being penalized. A little tip for you blog/article writers.
