Social media pageviews (surprise: Facebook’s in the lead)

Even though I’m becoming less and less of a fan of Facebook, I am apparently in the minority. Take a look at the chart below (a recent chart of the day from Silicon Alley Insider).

So the average Facebook user views 662 pages per month? That’s 22 pageviews per day. That’s a lot of Facebook time (and a lot of Farmville and Mafia Wars).

What’s even more surprising to me, though, is that hi5 is number 2, eclipsing MySpace. Anybody else surprised by that?

I wonder if any colleges or universities have established a presence on hi5. [j/k. Sorta.]

  1. We look at Hi5 for international clients. Fun Fact: Hi5 is also the name of a tween band in Australia (similar to the Jonas Brothers in the US), which has really hurt their online SEO and presence. We’ve found with one school that Hi5 works well with Thailand.

Through our social web callout research of 1,387 school’s homepage, admissions page, and alumni page, we found one page of the 4,161 total pages we reviewed that has a Hi5 callout……. my alma mater. :)

Facebook is not going away any time soon. 70% of Facebook users are outside of the United States. The average user spends 55 minutes a day on Facebook (that’s a lot of photos and walls and Pages to click through daily!) 70 languages are available on Facebook, and over 180 mobile operators in 60 countries are deploying and promoting Facebook Mobile. (And… last one… Facebook Mobile users are twice as active on Facebook.)

    Good stuff!

  2. Good info, @MP_W and Brad. I guess I’ve never given much thought to Hi5 but you guys have shown me that it might matter to certain audiences. And of course – as you say, Brad – Facebook is going to be around for a while.
